Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated is essential for better managing sickle cell. This applies to individuals with sickle cell disease and trait. Water is the best way to stay hydrated.

Get Your Nutrients

It's as simple as eating fruits and vegetables. Nutrients provides energy the body needs for functioning and maintaining itself. This includes up-keeping the immune system (to fight against infections), producing red blood cells, repairing damaged tissue and many other functions. If the body does not receive an adequate amount of nutrients, it is unable to complete these tasks.

Ask your doctor, or consult with a nutritionist before starting any diets.

Get an Adequate Amount of Sleep

Many underestimate the power of a good nap. However sleep is essential especially while you're sick or after a sickle cell pain episode, sleep is essential. Sleep allows energy to be allocated towards making repairs within the body. Without sleep, it is difficult for the body to get back to its full potential.

Keep Stress Levels to A Minimum

Lowering your stress levels can help lower the risk of sickle cell complications.
